Chelsea teenager Tariq Uwakwe has finally completed his season-long loan move to Accrington Stanley.
The attacking midfielder will join the Lancashire side after featuring 11 times for Chelsea’s development squad as they were crowned Premier League 2 champions in the 19/20 season.
This will be his first season out on loan, and his first taste of senior football having not featured for the Blues.
The 20-year-old joined Chelsea’s Academy at the age of eight, and has gone on to win represent the club at all the junior and development levels.
On the international stage, he has represented England up to the Under-18 age group and won the Toulon Tournament with the Young Lions in 2017.
The League 1 team does not have an option to make the loan permanent, and it looks like Uwakwe will return to Cobham after this stint at the League 1 side.
“All I’m trying to do is impress here and push on from that really.
“I can’t remember the last time I played a competitive match that was actually for three points, so I’m raring to go.
“I’m a player that just likes to get on the ball, whether it’s in the defensive or offensive third, I just like to get on the ball, link up the play and get more players involved.”Uwakwe in his interview
