Chelsea will play their first WSL game tomorrow when they travel to Leigh Sports Village in Manchester.

With less than 24 hours till kick-off, this is how we think Emma Hayes will line up her players.

Hayes’ 4-3-3 was efficient versus Manchester City a week ago. We will go with the same formation.

Ann-Katerin Berger’s solid performance in between the sticks last weekend should earn her a spot in the starting line-up this week. Our opponents can be lethal in front of goal. AKB can keep up her great form to keep the goals out.

The back four will remain almost the same, safe for a change in the left back position. In our line up, Maria Thorisdottir comes in for Jonna Andersson. This can be a good opportunity for the Norwegian to get a few minutes under her belt. For the rest of the back line, Maren Mjelde, Millie Bright and our skipper Magdalena Eriksson get to keep their spots. This gives us a balance of defenders who can also help out in front.

The midfield 3 of Melanie Leupolz, Sofie Ingle and Ji So-Yun from the Community Shield game were effective. We get to control the game with Ingle in the middle. Leupolz and Ji get to toggle back and forth, giving support where and when needed.

Fran Kirby created some exciting opportunities in our last game, it’s only wise that she starts this game, supporting the attack from the left. Guro Reiten will support the attack from the right. Our top scorer from last season, Beth England, will lead the attack. She came on as a substitute in our last game and was part of the set up for our second goal. Her abilities are not in doubt. We will need to control the game from the start and this attacking set-up, with England up top, can guarantee that.

In truth, Hayes could set up her team in a completely different way. Chelsea’s squad depth this season can ensure squad rotation. We may also see a few players make their debut or Hayes may play it safe and repeat the same or a similar squad from last week.
