Conor Gallagher will join Crystal Palace on a loan ahead of the the 2020/21 Premier League season.
The England Under-21 player, 20, has previously enjoyed impressive loan spells in the Championship at Charlton Athletic and Swansea.
Many clubs were interested in taking the youngster on loan, however All Things Chelsea understands that Gallagher had a medical with the Eagles on Sunday. There will be no “option to buy” as part of the loan deal.
Despite his obvious talent, Gallagher would be unlike to get regular game time in the Chelsea first team next season as Mount, Hudson-Odoi, Gilmour, Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Hakim Ziyech, Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Christian Pulisic and potentially Kai Havertz are all battling for up to five midfield places.
The midfielder now looks set to follow in the footsteps of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Michy Batshuayi and make the switch to Selhurst Park. His time at Selhurst Park will be pivotal for him maturing as a footballer, and getting valuable minutes in the Premier League under his belt.
Good luck, Connor!
