Chelsea’s match preparation for the new season starts tomorrow as the Blues take on Brighton in their opening preseason game.

This is an interesting choice of fixture, given the two sides will lock horns on the opening day of the season at the same venue.

Frank Lampard will be eager to see new recruits and returning loanees for the first time, and this will be a fine opportunity with a number of last season’s first-team unavailable for selection.

This game will also give fans a hint of Frank’s tactical preferences for the new campaign, with the 3-4-3 shape having dominated the back end of last season.

Who can play?

Having made a host of new signings, it will be a new-look Chelsea back in action tomorrow against Brighton. Latest signings Thiago Silva, Malang Sarr and Ben Chilwell won’t be available for various reasons, but other new recruits Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner will be.

It is believed that the preseason plan has be dealt a massive blow amid a rumoured outbreak of COVID19 around the club. Currently, a host of first team players are in quarantine including players like Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori, Tammy Abraham, Jorginho, Ross Barkley and Christian Pulisic.

Kepa, James, Zouma, Christensen, Alonso, Kante, Kovacic, Loftus-Cheek, Ziyech, Werner, CHO Caballero, Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Ampadu, Giroud are all available, others are academy players and returnees from 2019/20 loans.

How can I watch the game?

Tomorrow game will be a ‘pilot event’ by the UK Government to examine the viability of allowing spectators back into football stadia. 2,500 tickets have been made available for home supporters, with no away fans at games permitted for the entire following campaign.

Chelsea fans will be able to watch the game for free on the 5th Stand App and Chelsea Website, the link for which is below:
