A game which will be remembered not for Arsenal’s win but for Anthony Taylor’s win. Aside from the atrocious refereeing, the performance from men in blue was underwhelming and the blues were fortunate to go in at half time level before the referee took complete control over the game. Let’s just get this game out of the way.

Caballero – 6

Didn’t have much to do apart from pick the ball out of the net after a penalty and a quality finish from Aubameyang.

Reece James – 5

Had an average game, with a couple of long shots at goal. A cup final experience should help him grow.

Azpilicueta – 4

The man who never gets injured had to go off with an injury which was a sign of things to come. Gave away a needless penalty which helped Arsenal draw level.

Zouma – 5

Looked better than his partners at the back but could have done better dealing with Aubameyang for Arsenal’s second goal.

Rudiger – 3

Another woeful display from Rudiger who just couldn’t stop Arsenal players from running past him. A season to forget for the German.

Alonso – 5

Made some good runs into attacking areas but lacked quality to help Chelsea get goals. Looked shaky defensively as usual.

Kovacic – 5

Played really well until his first yellow card which was a turning point in the game. Would be really angry to have been sent off after two very questionable yellow cards given to the midfield maestro.

Jorginho – 5

Didn’t add anything solid to Chelsea’s play and looked a bit pedestrian in the heart of midfield. Just couldn’t get hold of the game which passed him by.

Mount – 6

Started brilliantly and combined very well with Giroud and Pulisic to create Chelsea’s first goal. Faded as the game went on.

Pulisic – 8

Got on the scoresheet with a brilliant piece of play and looked hungry to win the game for Chelsea tonight but was very unfortunate to go off injured. Chelsea’s best attacking threat once again.

Giroud – 6

Showed his quality by producing a deft touch to lay off the ball to Pulisic who scored the opening goal of the game. Wasn’t able to produce much apart from that.

Substitutes:

Christensen – 5

Did okay since coming on but would be disappointed not to have won the ball from Bellerin just before Arsenal’s second goal. Should have won a foul at that point too but let’s just not talk about that right now.

Pedro – 5

Looks like a bundle of energy whenever he’s on the field but lacked enough quality to produce the much needed goal for his team.

Abraham – N/A

Didn’t have much time to make an impact

Barkley – N/A

Didn’t have much time to make an impact

Hudson-Odoi – N/A

Didn’t have much time to make an impact

MAN OF THE MATCH –

ANTHONY TAYLOR – 11/10

Best man on the pitch who took over the game singlehandedly and won the cup for Arsenal. Should definitely be in Arsenal’s hall of fame after that terrific display.
