In the first part of a new feature, Jack guides us through his favourite Chelsea kit and what it means to him as a lifelong Chelsea fan.

When I look back over all the years of my support, fans of Chelsea Football Club have been spoiled by the quality of kits we’ve received from Umbro, Adidas and Nike. It’s not been an easy, choice, there have been so many good memories in different shirts, but the 2011/12 kit is without a doubt my favourite.

Between 2004 and 2012, Chelsea consistently went deep into the knockout stages of the Champions League. It felt like they were in the semi-final every year and as the seasons passed by, each knockout got more and more painful. After Moscow in 2008 and the robbery the following year against Barcelona I began to worry. The old guard of John Terry, Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba, Petr Čech and Ashley Cole weren’t getting any younger I began to doubt if this squad of legendary players was ever going to make it as European Champions.

Then came 2012 and the Miracle in Munich.

I remember I got this kit for Christmas in 2011, when my dad asked me who I wanted on the bank there was only ever going to be one name. Our top scorer in the season at this point in time was Daniel Sturridge and so that was who I picked. He may have left just over a year later but i will always cherish the novelty of my Sturridge 23 shirt.

That season was the compilation of years of painstaking effort by an absolutely fantastic group of players and whilst the Chelsea team we saw in it were far from the best, their achievements are arguably the most significant and there were so many iconic moments in that kit.

Who could forget the home game against Napoli in the Champions League Round of 16?

That mesmerising Raul Meireles goal against Benfica?

Ramires thrashing the ball past Pepe Reina in the FA Cup final?

Lastly, that magical night in Munich.

To celebrate the launch of our new home kit, we are teaming up with The Kit Supplier (@thekitsupplier1) to give away FOUR retro shirts of your choice.
