Tom Overend makes a journey across Europe (from his own living room!) to give us a lowdown on today’s performances from our loan army.

Timo Werner: Augsburg 1-2 RB Leipzig

The headline story of the day comes from our newest loanee who netted a domineering brace to secure victory in his final appearance for Leipzig before heading to SW6.

These strikes make him the highest goalscorer in Leipzig history, scoring 95 goals in his four years at the club.

It also brings his combined goals and assists tally up to 47 for the season, which is currently the highest of any of Europe’s top five leagues.

Jake Clarke-Salter started for Birmingham in a goal-laden game against Hull at St Andrews.

It was an tough day for the 22-year-old, who was booked in the lead-up to the visitors third goal and eventually substituted in the 87th minute by Pep Clotet.

Connor Gallagher and Izzy Brown: Swansea 0-1 Luton

Two Chelsea loanees featured in this clash between Swansea and Luton at the Liberty Stadium, each on opposite sides.

Connor Gallagher started for the Swans, not enjoying his best performance for the club as he received a late yellow card on a frustrating day for the youngster.

It was a better day for Izzy Brown, a 59th minute substitute for the Hatters, as the 23-year-old contributed a vital assist to James Collins’ winning goal for the relegation strugglers.

Matt Miazga: Derby 2-1 Reading

Matt Miazga started today for the Royals in central defence, but things did not go as planned for the American youngster.

Reading lost the game by two goals to one, but the main story involving the Chelsea loanee was a full-time skirmish with opposite number Tom Lawrence that resulted in the pair receiving red cards and three match suspensions.

Reading Manager Mark Bowen claims that the incident was started by Miazga being head butted by Lawrence:

“I’ve been told Matt was headbutted and he swung for the fella,”

Danny Drinkwater was an unused substitute for Aston Villa in their Premier League clash against Wolves.

Ethan Ampadu and Dujon Sterling were not involved in the matchday squad for Leipzig and Wigan respectively.

Marc Guehi was an unused substitute for Swansea in their clash against Luton in the Championship.

Baba Rahman remains unavailable for selection for Real Mallorca with a knee injury.
