Champions League knockout football is upon us, and the Blues face a tough test as they welcome German Champions Bayern Munich to Stamford Bridge.
Tuesday night is poised for an eventful 90 minutes in South-West London, as Chelsea embark on their biggest test of the season. Prior to Tuesday’s showdown, Frank Lampard’s side claimed a bragging rights 2-1 victory over North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon. This win put Chelsea four points clear over Spurs, and regained control of Champions League aspirations for next season.
Chelsea fans are hoping their side can pull off a miracle like they achieved in the Champions League final in May 2012, where all odds were against the London club. Eight years on, Chelsea are still the underdogs in this tie and will be eager to enforce a defeat to the juggernaut Bayern Munich.
Chelsea are coming off reluctant form as they have only picked up one victory in their last four games.
Munich enter Tuesday’s clash coming off a pulsating game on Friday evening, which saw a 88th minute winner from one of Europe’s best strikers , Robert Lewandowski. The German champions won 3-2 over Paderborn.
