It always has a lot of drama involved when these two sides meet. Its a crucial game for both sides in this intense race for top 4. Recently Ole’s boys have been a tricky side for the blues. He managed to beat the blues 4-0 on the opening weekend of the season. They also managed to beat Chelsea when they faced each other in the Carabao cup. Since then this young Chelsea side have improved a lot. They have been inconsistent but we can all see the improvement. We were getting closer to kick off and there were a few eyebrows raised from the Chelsea fans when they saw the lineup. Hudson Odoi was left out due to injury and Pedro was his replacement. Tammy Abraham was left out as well and Michy Batshuayi was starting. Lampard had kept his faith in Willy Caballero as he left Kepa on the bench for a second game in a row.

Chelsea suffered an early blow as Ngolo Kante was subbed off after he suffered another injury. He was subbed off for Mason Mount. Mason had a great impact on the game and set up the best chance of the game for Michy Batshuayi who failed to tap the ball inside the back of an empty net. His shot was inches away and United were massively off the hook. Later on In the game Harry Maguire kicked Michy Batshuayi and it went to VAR for a possible red card. The decision was shocking as Harry Maguire got off the hook for his violent conduct on the Belgian. Chelsea had dominated in the first half but they failed to take their chances. And yet again they paid the price for it as Anthony martial gave Manchester United the lead on the stroke off half time. Wan bissaka did well to beat Willian and then cross the ball to tee up Martial. Just like that Manchester United took the lead and it was a massive blow for the blues. The second half was underway and it was a crucial 45 minutes at Stamford Bridge. Lampard was forced to make another change yet again as Christensen was subbed off at half time and Kurt Zouma replaced him. It looked like Zouma had made the perfect impact as he levelled the blues from a corner. But the goal was disallowed by as Azpilicueta has pushed Williams. It surely ruined the blues confidence. And 10 minutes later united doubled their lead through captain Harry Maguire who should have been on the pitch. Bruno Fernandes whipped the ball in and Maguire had a free header and he put the Red Devil’s 2-0 up at the bridge. Lampard made his third and final substitution off the game as he subbed Giroud on for Michy Batshuayi. Giroud came on and scored a header to give the blues some hope. But for the 2nd time tonight the goal was disallowed by VAR as he was fractionally offside. Mason mount close for Chelsea in the dying minutes of the game as he hit the post from his free kick. Chelsea had no luck in front of goal and United walked out 2-0 winners and won for the third time against the blues this season. It was a very frustrating defeat for the blues. What’s next for Chelsea ?

The first loss of the 3 big games Chelsea have to play. A frustrating loss which opens the top 4 race open. Yet another day where Chelsea fail to take their chances and paid the price. VAR totally ruined the game as Maguire should have been sent off in the first half for kicking Michy Batshuayi. Azpilicueta was pushed by Fred which led to him pushing Williams. Thus this disallowed Kurt Zoumas equaliser for the blues. Two big decisions went against Chelsea and it ultimately cost them the 3 points. But Chelsea have to get over this loss as they are set to face Tottenham on Saturday and Bayern Munich a few days later in the Champions League. It’s going to be a very difficult week for Chelsea and they have to bounce back against spurs at the weekend. The fans need to the back the team and help them through this difficult period. Let’s hope the boys do us proud when they take on Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

UP THE CHELS!
