This Tuesday sees a huge clash between two fierce rivals, as north Londoners Arsenal make a cross-town trip to SW6 to take on the blues Chelsea.

Chelsea have hit a slight roadblock after their phenomenal start to the season under new boss Frank Lampard. The blues still sit currently in fourth position but have allowed Manchester United to hang around and still give the reds a glimmer of a chance for the last European spot. On Saturday afternoon, Chelsea failed to go 8 points clear of United as a last-minute header from Issac Hayden gave Newcastle jubilation at St James park handing Lampard’s side an 8th defeat for the League campaign.

The Gunners season from hell continued as they let go of a 1 nil lead at home to Sheffield United. Arsenal who occupy the 10th position in the league probably no longer have the top four aspirations in their sights, however, this contest means more than league positions as it’s an historic rivalry between two of London’s most successful clubs.

Arsenal last defeat to the south-west London side came back at the end of 2019 (December 29th) at the Emirates, where goals from skipper Jorginho and Tammy Abraham ensured Chelsea with the three points and rightfully claim bragging rights of London.

Arsenal’s last win at Stamford Bridge in the Premier came on October 29th, 2011, the gunners with a 5-3 win which saw a remarkable performance from Dutchman Robin Van Persie.

Team News

The blues will be without long-term absentee Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Reece James who picked up a knock during Saturday afternoon lost to Newcastle, also full-back Marcus Alonso and Christian Pulisic will be unavailable.

For Arsenal, Full backs Kieran Tierney and Calum Chambers will be unavailable as they have been ruled out through injury. Furthermore, Arsenal captain and leading goal scorer, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will also miss out through a red card suspension.

Chelsea are heading into this game as clear favorites here. The blues have a superior record at the bridge over rivals Arsenal and have slightly been on the better run of form. In addition, the blues are coming off a recent victory of Arsenal which gives me the full conviction of a Chelsea win on Tuesday evening, which will momentarily give an eight-point cushion from fifth-place Manchester United.
