The 22 year-old centre back who made 55 appearances from Derby County last season under current Chelsea manager Frank Lampard, has been pivotal part of Chelsea’s success this season. Tomori has featured 16 times for Chelsea this season, and provided one of the goals of the season, as the defender made an ambitious strike against Wolves in September which resulted in his first goal for the Blues.
After signing his new deal the defender then went on to speak to the Chelsea media team and expressed his joy for signing for his boyhood club. He’s a very motivated player who is very keen to develop under this new regime that Frank Lampard has installed into Chelsea football club.
‘It’s obviously a very proud moment for myself and my family. I’ve been at the club since I was seven years old so I don’t really know much else other than Chelsea.’
‘The club has been so good to me, looking after and developing me during that time into the player and the person I am today. It’s a dream come true to sign a new five-year contract. I’m really happy the club have shown this faith in me and I’m just excited to carry on.’Tomori speaking to Chelsea after signing his new deal
Fikayo Tomori’s previous deal with Chelsea was set to expire in the summer of 2021.
