It has been a long time since I have seen the entire Chelsea fan base so expectant coming into a game against a top 6 team, let alone Manchester City. The Blues travel to the Etihad on Saturday in a 3rd v 4th clash in what good be a compelling game. Chelsea are currently the most inform team in Europe having won their last six league games in a row. City, on the other hand, come into this game off the back of being utterly outclassed by Liverpool. In fact the results of the last game meant that Man City slipped under Chelsea in the table for the first time this season.
Many say that the title race is already over and that in part is down to Man City’s unfortunate injury list at the moment. Laporte, Sane and Zinchenko will all definitely miss the game with injuries but Ederson looks set to return in time. Bernado Silva will also miss the game with a one match ban due to a controversial tweet involving team mate Benjamin Mendy.
For Chelsea, Pulisic and Barkley both missed international games with their respective nations but both look set to be fit for the game in Manchester. Jorginho also returns from a one match suspension. Emerson should be fit to play also.
Recent fixtures between this two sides have been interesting to say the least. Whether it be ‘Kepa-gate’ in the Carabao Cup final, a 6-0 thrashing or a surprise 2-0 victory for the Blues, this game always throws up something to talk about.
A win for Chelsea would take the Blues four points clear of the Citizens whilst a win for City could bring them to within six points of Liverpool if they lose to Crystal Palace.
