Sunday Afternoon holds a huge Premier League clash between two teams which have dominated the recent era of Premier League football, Manchester United and Chelsea. Once again on Sunday their iconic rivalry will come into action for one last time this season as both clubs are in desperate need of those 3 points.

Looking into this heavily anticipated fixture on Sunday both teams have are currently enduring a very turbulent season, as both sides are trying to obtain Champions League football for next season. United are coming off an emphatic defeat to their neighbours Manchester City at home (Old Trafford) on Wednesday night whilst Chelsea of South West London, dropped two crucial points at home to 15th place Burnley on Monday night.

Looking at the Opposition (Manchester United)

Manchester United are coming off 7 defeats in their last 9 games in all competitions, with two of those defeats coming from back to back league games against Everton and Manchester City. There is a huge amounts of persistent speculation regarding the future of the main star Paul Pogba with rumours portraying a possible exit for French World Cup winner. There is a vast amount of frustration coming from United fans as their team sit in 6th place in the league table just three points of fourth place Chelsea (67 points).

Previous Meeting

The last meeting between these two sides in the Premier League, took place on midday October 20th 2018 at Stamford Bridge. The match was full of chaos and last minute drama which saw former blue boss Jose Mourinho drawing into a confrontation in the technical area with one of Chelsea’s assistant coaches. Ross Barkley eventually saved the day for the Blues as he equalised in the 96th minute as Chelsea kept undefeated record.

Press Conference/Team News

During yesterday’s press conference Sarri was asked on the availability of his players such as N’Golo Kante and Antonio Rudiger. Sarri gave a response on the matter on the players availability, “Rudiger is okay at the moment but I’m not sure on Kante”. Rudiger does seem like a slight doubt especially after missing two games in a row, however the main cause of concern in Kante who sustained a rib injury during Monday 2-2 draw v Burnley.

Callum Hudson Odoi will not be available for selection due rupturing his Achilles on Monday night he will be approximately sidelined for 6-9 months.
