The International break has come to an end and all our attention turns towards the Premier League. This weekend, Cardiff City host Chelsea. For both teams it’s a must a win game. Chelsea are fighting for the top 4, three points behind Arsenal and a win for Chelsea would put them level on points with Gunners if the result goes their way. On the other hand, Cardiff City are fighting for their lives to stay in Premier League.

Chelsea suffered a 2-0 loss to Everton away from home before the international break. It looked like Sarri had turned a corner but after the loss to Everton it seems like the same old story for Chelsea this season. Most of the Chelsea fans have started to lose faith in Maurizio Sarri and want him to get sacked. Fans are also frustrated by the lack of game time that Hudson Odoi has received in the league this season. After a lot of disappointing results, Sarri has put a smile on the faces of Chelsea fans after today’s press conference. Sarri has said that Callum Hudson Odoi is going to play 75-80% of games, as Chelsea must play 8 matches in the next 28 days. He is willing to give Hudson Odoi his first start in the Premier League.

Hudson Odoi has played 20 games this season. The majority of the games have been in the cups and in the Europa league. He has been impressive this season for Chelsea and got his first start for England in A 1-5 win over Montenegro.

A loss for Chelsea, would certainly put an end to their top four hopes, and it could also be the end for Maurizio Sarri. Cardiff City are currently in the relegation zone and are 2 points behind Burnley with a game in hand. Before the international break Cardiff city managed to get 3 points against West ham. It was an impressive result for them, and they will be fully motivated to do the same against Chelsea over the weekend. However, with Sol Bamba being out for the rest of the season it could be a huge blow for Cardiff going into the final games of the season.

On paper Chelsea are the favourites to win, but over years if the Premier League has taught us anything it is that any side can cause a major upset against the big boys. As this fixture is a must win for the both the teams, it is going to be an exciting encounter between these two sides come Sunday.

Previous Meeting

Chelsea and Cardiff met early in the season at Stamford Bridge in September. Chelsea put four goals past Cardiff who surprisingly took the lead through Sol Bamba. Chelsea’s star man Eden Hazard stepped up to the occasion and scored a hat-trick, whilst Willian finished the game off in style with a spectacular goal to seal the three points for Chelsea.

The win against Cardiff had extended Chelsea’s unbeaten run and Chelsea had achieved maximum points from the first five games of the season. It was certainly one of the best performances from Chelsea and things were looking great for new the boss Maurizio Sarri.

Given Chelsea’s recent form this could be a very trick fixture for them. But if Sarri’s chooses the correct starting 11 and if the players step out with the right mentality, we can certainly get the three points.
